NILD® Educational Therapy
The National Institute for Learning Development (NILD®) is a specialised educational therapy approach that focuses on strengthening the underlying cognitive skills essential for learning and literacy. Rather than concentrating solely on school subjects such as reading, writing, or mathematics, NILD® addresses the thinking processes that underlie all learning, including attention, memory, processing, reasoning, and problem-solving. Many children who struggle academically are capable and intelligent but find learning to read difficult because these core cognitive skills are not yet working efficiently. NILD® therapy works to close this gap by helping learners develop stronger literacy strategies, thinking habits, improved self-awareness, and effective learning strategies. Sessions are delivered one-to-one and are highly structured, allowing the therapist to carefully adjust the level of challenge to stretch the learner while providing consistent support. Over time, children learn how to approach tasks more thoughtfully, organise their ideas, and persevere through challenges. As confidence grows, improvements often transfer naturally into the classroom, resulting in increased independence, improved academic performance, and a more positive attitude towards learning.
Executive Functioning Coaching
Executive functioning refers to the set of skills that enable learners to plan, organise, manage time, regulate emotions, and sustain attention. Difficulties in executive functioning, often experienced by neurodivergent learners, can affect a child’s ability to start tasks, follow instructions, complete work independently, or cope with everyday demands at school and home. Executive functioning coaching provides targeted support to help learners develop these essential life skills. Sessions focus on practical, real-world strategies that are personalised to the learner’s needs and strengths. Children are guided to break tasks into manageable steps, develop routines, set goals, and reflect on their progress in a supportive and structured way. As these skills strengthen, learners often experience reduced stress and anxiety, improved classroom engagement, and greater confidence in managing their workload. Parents frequently notice increased independence, improved organisation, and more positive emotional regulation both at school and at home.
Social Skills
Social skills mentoring supports children who find social interaction challenging, including neurodiverse learners and those who struggle with communication, emotional regulation, or peer relationships. Social difficulties can significantly impact a child’s confidence, wellbeing, and overall school experience. Sessions provide a safe, supportive space where learners can practise social skills without pressure or judgement. Through structured activities, guided discussion, role-play, and real-life scenarios, children learn to recognise social cues, understand emotions (their own and others’), and respond appropriately in different situations. The focus is not on changing who a child is, but on equipping them with the tools they need to navigate social environments with confidence. Over time, learners develop stronger self-awareness, improved communication skills, and greater confidence in forming and maintaining positive relationships.
Search and Teach®
Search and Teach® is an early-intervention programme designed to identify learning needs before difficulties become deeply established. It is particularly effective for younger children or those in the early years of schooling who may be showing early signs of learning challenges. The programme uses gentle assessment to identify areas of cognitive strength and need, followed by targeted activities that support skill development in a supportive and encouraging environment. Sessions are carefully structured yet engaging, helping children build confidence while strengthening the foundations needed for successful learning. By addressing learning needs early, Search and Teach® can help prevent later academic struggles, reduce frustration, and support children in developing a positive relationship with learning from the outset.
Lego Therapy
Lego® Therapy is a structured, evidence-informed intervention that uses collaborative construction tasks to support social communication, cooperative play, and relationship building. Based on well-researched principles of social skills development, sessions engage children and young people in meaningful, goal-directed play that encourages listening, turn-taking, negotiation, problem-solving, and flexible thinking. Through facilitator guidance and real-world practice, learners develop confidence in social interaction, grow in self-awareness, and build positive peer connections in a motivating and fun environment.
RxMaths
RxMaths is a targeted mathematics intervention designed to strengthen foundational numeracy and build confidence in learners who experience difficulty with number sense, maths concepts and procedures. Using a structured, sequential approach, sessions focus on strengthening number sense, pattern recognition, computational fluency, and problem-solving strategies. Learners receive personalised support that adapts to their individual learning profile, with explicit instruction, guided practice, and real-world application. Over time, RxMaths helps students develop deeper conceptual understanding, improve accuracy, and approach mathematics with greater independence and self-assurance.
School Readiness
School readiness sessions are designed to support children as they prepare for the transition into formal schooling. Starting school can be an exciting but challenging time, particularly for children who may need extra support with attention, confidence, or early learning skills. Using Search and Teach® principles, school readiness sessions focus on building early literacy and numeracy skills, developing attention and listening abilities, and introducing classroom routines in a calm and supportive way. Activities are play-based, engaging, and tailored to each child’s developmental stage. These sessions aim to build confidence, independence, and familiarity with learning expectations, helping children approach school with enthusiasm rather than anxiety. Parents are often reassured knowing their child is developing the skills needed for a smooth and positive start to their schooling journey.
